Generaties later zingen we hun songs nog altijd mee. Achter die klassiekers schuilt \u00e9\u00e9n naam: <strong>Motown<\/strong>. Maar Motown was veel meer dan een platenlabel. Het was een muzikale beweging die soul, rhythm-and-blues, gospel, pop en funk samenbracht tot een unieke sound. Een culturele revolutie, gebouwd op vakmanschap, emotie en groove, die heel wat muziek genres blijvend heeft be\u00efnvloed.<br><br>Dat is de wereld van <strong>Cloud Nine<\/strong>.<br><br><strong>Cloud Nine<\/strong> is een negenkoppige soul- en funkformatie, opgericht in 2012, die de muziek die ze willen spelen niet benadert als een verzameling hits, maar als een levend muzikaal erfgoed. Naast muziek van het Motown label  verkent de band ook de bredere soul- en funk traditie. Naast de grote Motown-klassiekers krijgen daarom ook nummers van Ike Turner, The Bamboos, Monophonics, Kylie Auldist, The Majestics, Jean Knight en vele anderen een plaats in de set. Niet omdat ze toevallig dezelfde stijl delen, maar omdat ze dezelfde muzikale ziel uitstralen.<br><br><strong>Cloud Nine<\/strong> is niet de zoveelste party- of coverband die nummers simpelweg reproduceert. Het gaat om de bezieling waarmee deze muziek ooit werd gemaakt: de warme blazers, de stuwende ritmesectie, de samenzang, de subtiele details en vooral die onweerstaanbare groove. Elk nummer wordt met respect voor het origineel gebracht, maar altijd met de overtuiging dat soul levende muziek is.<br><br>Een bijzonder eerbetoon gaat daarbij naar <strong>The Funk Brothers<\/strong>, de legendarische maar lang ondergewaardeerde huisband van het Motown platenlabel.
